How to Maintain a Fixed Spine Angle in Your Golf Swing

Overall, a number of physical components are necessary for the execution of most any golf shot. The reason for this is connected to the requirement of drawing the club through a long range of motion on the correct swing plane. This leaves you with little room for error in either tempo or sequencing of every phase in the swing.

Now, in order to accomplish the requirements of the golf swing the amateur golfer must have certain levels of flexibility, balance, strength, and power. If the body is lacking in any or all of these physical components, execution of the golf swing may be difficult. So in order to provide you with the opportunity to hit your golf shots successfully we can implement golf fitness exercises into your training program to develop these parameters.

A quick review of the golf swing indicates a requirement of maintaining a fixed spine angle as well as additional postural positions. In order for your body to perform these requirements of the golf swing the muscles of your body require certain levels of strength.

Strength relative to the golf swing can be defined as the ability of your muscles to exert the required levels of force to perform the movements within the swing. If your body is lacking in the levels of strength required of the golf swing. The ability to maintain your spine angle and postural positions of the swing will be compromised.

As stated previously the process of developing muscular strength for the golf swing is relatively simple. It consists of utilizing golf specific strength training exercises to develop the required levels of strength to maintain a consistent spine angle in your golf swing.

One such strength exercises I often use with professional golfers for this goal is Bent Knee Marches. This is a simple exercise to perform and is very proficient at developing strength in the hips, abdominals, lower back, and hamstrings. All of which are important muscles in the maintenance of your spine angle.

Begin the exercise lying with your back flat on the floor, knees bent, and feet together. Point your toes upward by pressing the heels into the floor. Elevate your hips off the floor inline with your knees and shoulders.

Slowly lift the left heel off the floor maintaining a bend in the knee and hips elevated. Continue to lift the heel 3-4 inches off the floor, pause for one second, and return to the starting position of the exercise. Repeat the lift with the right heel. Alternate back and forth for 10-15 repetitions.

Keep in mind there are a number of components required in the execution of your golf swing. One of which is a fixed spine angle. And order to maintain a fixed spine angle certain levels of muscular strength are required of your body.

weather fronts are where two air streams meet. These air steams have different temperatures and humidity. The warmer air, being less dense, rises up over the cooler air. The warm air expands and therefore cools as it rises. Colder air can hold on to less water vapour. The water condenses out of the atmosphere, forms clouds and eventually rain.

There are different kinds of fronts

Stationary Front a front that is not moving
When a warm or cold front stops moving, it becomes a stationary front. Once this boundary resumes its forward motion, it once again becomes a warm front or cold front.

cold front transition zone from warm air to cold air
A cold front is defined as the transition zone where a cold air mass is replacing a warmer air mass. cold fronts generally move from northwest to southeast. The air behind a cold front is noticeably colder and drier than the air ahead of it. When a cold front passes through, temperatures can drop more than 15 degrees within the first hour.

warm front transition zone from cold air to warm air
A warm front is defined as the transition zone where a warm air mass is replacing a cold air mass. warm fronts generally move from southwest to northeast and the air behind a warm front is warmer and moister than the air ahead of it. When a warm front passes through, the air becomes noticeably warmer and more humid than it was before.

Occluded front when a cold front overtakes a warm front
A developing cyclone typically has a preceding warm front (the lead edge of a warm moist air mass) and a faster moving cold front (the leading edge of a colder drier air mass wrapping around the storm). north of the warm front is a mass of cooler air that was in place before the storm even entered the region.

Dry Line a moisture boundary
A dry line is a boundary that separates a moist air mass from a dry air mass. Also called a Dew Point Front, sharp changes in dew point temperature can be observed across a dry line. Dry lines are most commonly found just east of the Rocky Mountains, separating a warm moist air mass to the east from a hot dry air mass to the west.

When late fall comes around most anglers slow down on their fishing. Yes, the catch may be slower but you have to remember one thing..the last thing a bass wants to do in the late fall is go deep, even with a cold front as long as their plenty of shallow cover. Wood is an excellent place for bass in the late fall, especially submerged and laydown trees.

Jigs, spinnerbaits, small crankbaits like the Little N, all are good lures to use at this time of year. Fishing pockets is also very productive this time of year. Remember to fish a spinnerbait lengthways down a submerged tree and lead the lure using your rod so it bumps off of big limbs from the tree.

Try using SuspenDots on the crankbaits to catch those suspended fish. Fish the trees by points and coves. Fish slower and dont run from spot to spot but fish an area thoroughly. If you can fish trees submerged where one end is in about 7-9 feet of water, make sure you fish it.

Try deadsticking a Senko, I have had a lot of luck in late fall with this method, fish it slow and let it set for a little longer than you think you should.

Overall, the best I have done is with a little crankbait with a SuspenDot and fishing submerged trees on a point in fairly shallow water. Just because the temperature is lower doesnt mean you cant have a good day of fishing even if you have a cold front to go along with it.
